Students who have taken Level 1 Science, or at the HOF's discretion.

Where this subject will lead:

Further study: Level 3 Science. Polytechnic or University courses. Employment: Success in Level 2 Science is valued by employers and can be used to gain technical jobs and apprenticeships.

Recommended Prior Learning

What you need to be able to do and know to achieve in this subject:
To achieve in this subject students should have completed Year 11 Science.


This course will be based on Level 2 internal Achievement Standards from all contexts of Science. This course will be designed to suit the student’s interests and strengths. There will be a strong emphasis on practical work and field studies.  Contexts may include climate change, car crashes, investigations and human impacts on the environment.
