Year 11 Art
Teacher in Charge: Mr E. Peters
Who is this subject intended for:
This subject would suit those students who are interested in the Visual Arts and who are keen to develop their skills while completing a significant body of work. Students need to have good work habits and be prepared to develop their own creativity while following a structured programme.
What you will learn in this subject:
You will have the opportunity to build work using a range of media, based on a theme but allowing personal input in terms of ideas and technique. A significant body of work is completed that develops an initial idea in a systematic and controlled way. This is a good introduction to Levels 2 and 3 as all external standards, at these levels, are completed in the same way.
oUse drawing methods and skills for recording information using wet and dry media.
oUse drawing conventions to develop work in more than one field of practice.
oProduce a body of work informed by established practice which develops ideas, using a range of media.
oProduce a finished work that demonstrates skills appropriate to cultural conventions.
Contributions and Equipment/Stationery

What you need to be able to do and know to achieve in this subject:
There is no prerequisite to this subject however, completing a successful years’ work at Year 10 would be helpful. Self-discipline and a willingness to engage with the programme are essential. The ability to recognise personal strengths and learn from the examples of other Artists is important also.
