Course Description

Who is this subject intended for:
This subject would suit those students who are interested in the Visual Arts and who are keen to develop their skills while completing a significant body of work. Students need to have good work habits and be prepared to develop their own creativity while following a structured programme.

What you will learn in this subject:
●Skills:
You will have the opportunity to build work using a range of media, based on a theme but allowing personal input in terms of ideas and technique. A significant body of work is completed that develops an initial idea in a systematic and controlled way. This is a good introduction to Levels 2 and 3 as all external standards, at these levels, are completed in the same way.
●Content:
oUse drawing methods and skills for recording information using wet and dry media.
oUse drawing conventions to develop work in more than one field of practice.
oProduce a body of work informed by established practice which develops ideas, using a range of media.
oProduce a finished work that demonstrates skills appropriate to cultural conventions.

Recommended Prior Learning

What you need to be able to do and know to achieve in this subject:
There is no prerequisite to this subject however, completing a successful years’ work at Year 10 would be helpful. Self-discipline and a willingness to engage with the programme are essential. The ability to recognise personal strengths and learn from the examples of other Artists is important also.
