What you will learn in this subject:
This course is designed to meet the requirements of the new Digital Technology curriculum. The Intro to Computer Science Unit is designed to introduce students to academic concepts and practices of computer science as well as begin developing their computational thinking. The unit consists of unplugged and computer based activities, incorporating designing and developing digital outcomes, basic programming, and digital literacy skills.

Computational Thinking:
Basic understanding of end user
Understand what an algorithm is
Understand that computers follow step by step instructions to complete tasks (algorithms)
Understand the algorithms are different to computer programmes but can be used to create a computer programme?
Write / give simple algorithm instructions (both non-computerised & computerised)
Follow simple algorithms (both non-computerised & computerised)
Debug simple algorithms (both non-computerised & computerised)
Use algorithms to create simple programs with outputs and sequencing

Designing and Developing Digital Outcomes:
Understanding that digital devices develop/change over time & the influence/impact they have on humans/society.
Understanding the particular roles of components in a fundamental input, process, output system and how they work together.
Understanding that inputs are transformed into outputs within a fundamental system and the “control” role that humans have in this.
Purposefully use an increasing range of applications (software and file type).
