Year 13 Calculus

Course Description

Who is this subject intended for:
This course is recommended to students who have a real interest in Mathematics or wish to study courses such as Engineering, Physical Sciences or Economics.


What you will learn in this subject:
Calculus is the study of change. Through it students will learn about how to determine speed, distance and acceleration of objects moving according to a given equation. There are two aspects to calculus: Differentiation and Integration. They will also revisit ideas related to graphs and algebra and be introduced to Complex Numbers.

Where this subject will lead:
This subject is good preparation for studying Mathematics, Physical Sciences, Engineering or Economics at University.

Recommended Prior Learning

What you need to be able to do and know to achieve in this subject: Student needs to have a strong understanding of Level 2 Mathematics. This can be demonstrated by achieving at least 14 Level 2 Math credits, mostly at merit or better. Confidence with working with algebra and graphs is essential.
