Students who have completed Level 1 Science or at teacher’s discretion.

  • Rocky Shore
  • Extreme Environments


Where this subject will lead:

Level 3 Biology and then onto science-based university courses. Apprenticeships and science-based Polytechnic courses.

Recommended Prior Learning

What you need to be able to do and know to achieve in this subject:
To achieve in this subject students should have completed Level 1 Science. However, anyone can achieve in Biology if they are interested and motivated.


This course focuses on students investigating and developing their understanding of the living world. Students will be provided with opportunities to develop their investigative skills through field work.

This course may have an optional component which will require payment. Eg workbook, Education Perfect
If possible a school recommended device is advised as much of the work is web-based.
